12 Free Ways to Promote Your Small Business Website
A website only works when people see it. The good news: some of the most effective promotion costs nothing but a little time. Pick three of these and start this week.
Get found
- Link it from your Google Business Profile. This is the single biggest source of local website visits.
- Add it to every social profile. Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, Nextdoor. Put the link in your bio, not just one post.
- List your business in free directories. Yelp, Bing Places, Apple Business Connect, Angi, Houzz, The Knot: whatever fits your industry.
Use what you already have
- Put it on everything printed. Business cards, invoices, receipts, flyers, yard signs, vehicle magnets.
- Add it to your email signature. Every email you send becomes a tiny ad.
- Use a QR code in your shop. On the counter, in the window, on menus. People scan them out of habit now.
- Mention it in your voicemail greeting. "You can also book online atβ¦"
Give people a reason to visit
- Share before-and-after photos on social media and link back to your gallery page.
- Run a website-only offer. "Book online this month and get 10% off" gives people a reason to click.
- Answer common questions on your website (an FAQ section), then point people there when they ask by text or DM.
Get others to share it
- Swap links with neighboring businesses. A florist and a wedding photographer, a gym and a smoothie shop, a realtor and a cleaner.
- Ask happy customers to share. Word of mouth is still the strongest marketing there is; make it easy by sharing your link with them.
Keep it fresh: Update your website with new photos, seasonal offers or a new service at least once a month. Returning visitors notice, and so does Google.
